John S. Noell Jr., Partner

John Noell is a respected and experienced litigator and a venerable University of Georgia School of Law alumnus and community leader.

As a litigator, Noell is licensed to practice in all of Georgia’s state and federal courts as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA). He is past president of the Western Circuit Bar Association and a Fellow of The Lawyers Foundation of Georgia. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School Law in 1965.

Following law school, Noell served as a captain in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal and other commendations for his service in the Vietnam War.

A deeply engaged UGA Law School alumnus, the Thomaston native is a past president of the UGA Law School Alumni Association, past chair of the UGA Law School Board of Visitors, and has received the Law School’s highest alumni honor: the Distinguished Service Scroll Award. He also is a member of the UGA President’s Club, University Partners, UGA Heritage Society and the UGA Law School’s Joseph Henry Lumpkin Society.

In the Athens community, he is a past president of the Athens Lions Club and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 22, among other masonic organizations.
